Drudge Story: POS Bush Paid $XXX in Income Tax...
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 08:25 PM by Matsubara
I guess the implication is that rich white people are shouldering an unconscionable tax burden?

Bushes' 2006 tax bill: $186,378
By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer 21 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - President POS Bush and the first beeyotch lady paid $186,378 in federal taxes on their income of $765,801 for last year. Vice President Thug Dick Cheney and his stepford wife made twice as much and paid the tax man about $50,000 more than they owed.

The president POS and Mrs. Bush contributed $78,100 to churches and charitable organizations, including the volunteer fire department in Crawford, Texas, where they own a toy ranch, according to their tax return, released Friday by the White House.

The Bushes' adjusted gross income of $765,801 was about $30,600 higher than the year before. And about $720,000 more than the income of an average American family... They paid $27,474 in state property taxes on the potemkin ranch — up about $1,000 from the previous year.

The return for the vice president Il Capo and his fishwife, Lynne, shows that they owed federal taxes of $413,326 on overall taxable income of $1.6 million. But throughout last year, the Cheneys paid $464,789 in taxes, or $51,463 too much.

Instead of taking a refund, the Cheneys elected to apply the overpayment to their 2007 tax bill.

Bush's salary as president is about $400,000. Cheney's salary is slightly over $200,000.

Oh, the poor, poor Bushes. They will have to scrape by on the remaining HALF million dollars per year, PLUS all gourmet meals catered by White House staff, all travel expenses, the best medical care, plus a huge pension, plus the fact that POS is guaranteed a lucrative spot on any number of boards of the mercenary corporations whose bidding he's done for the last 6 years.

POOR POOR BUSH.

 me a river...

edit; This was actually a couple days ago. Drudge had a link to "Breitbart" which is a right-wing pal of his that runs a fake news site, so I did a search and found a link to the AP story through Yahoo.

Drudge pimps out his site to get clicks for Breitbart, so please don't follow links that go there...

(Yeah, yeah, I know we shouldn't ever use Drudge either. Guilty as charged)

3. I wonder if that's reported as income, like the "little people" must.
It's an interesting question. Is the value of the housing and meals and residence staff reported as taxable income in accordance with the law covering the rest of us??

Can anyone find a reputable answer to this?

10. Yes, and every other federal employee, too. That doesn't exempt them from taxes.

There's only one specific payment that's not taxable income, afaik. That's the stipend paid to Congresscritters as an offset to the expenses they must pay for a DC residence and travel between DC and their respective states. IIRC, it was $25K many years ago. I don't know what it is now. (That's probably a good deal for the folks from Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.)

5. How terrible. It's not like he gets anything back for that money, either.
I mean, I get to drive on the roads and stuff, but how do George and his pals ever benefit from taxes? It's not like that money's going to pay people to secure their investments in some far-flung, hostile country or something. Poor man!

6. There's no way he made only $765,801. in income. That's only
the income he had to declare. I'm not good at calculating figures but roughly what he paid is about 20% of what he's claiming. I spent a good part of my lifetime paying 20% of my income on taxes and believe me I never earned more than $50,000 a year. So all I can say is boo-hoo.

I just noticed that the link in the post is messed up, and it's too late to edit.

Here's one that should work.

8. only 25% of income to taxes, thats better than most Americans do, lol.
and I am guessing most of their 78k to "charity" was to church. Nothing special about that. You're supposed to give 10%
