"Journeys with George" reduxe...Watching it again after seeing it a couple of years ago.
Impressions:

1. How can you have an objective press when the campaign bus was one giant party. Booze and parties and games of chance. No press person should be allowed on a campaign bus. Pelosi asked "Who am I working for?" after the 4th Bday cake?

2. School cleaned up for a photo op. Cleaned up and they "had the heat turned up more than usual." Pissed me off! For a freaking photo opportunity.

3. Saw a sign that said "Gay people have too many rights." Sign of things to come.

4. One group of guys cranking out hundreds of "homemade signs" for people to hold.

5. Babies named "Reagan." How creepy is that?

1. That was really painful to watch-
I kept turning it off and then turning it back on. The babies named Reagan really freaked me out-
( I couldn't help wondering how many of those proud Freepers have changed their minds since then) and the "home-made signs"-and the sight of ** joking around-oh it was sickening!

2. Good Post
I got the same impressions that you did, but I did not see #3.

The highlight of the film for me was the reporter describing the Republican party as being all made up of white bread, talk baloney, and is cheesy.

3. In retrospect, the media schmoozing (and the staged campaign phoniness)
... pointed out what kind of stuff we're up against -- not just dealing with Bush and his ilk, but reforming the political system in general.

And Bush does appear pretty cynical about all of this (which makes his "country boy" act even harder to take). The things he says in the film ... he doesn't like the press at all, and seems to despise them for their efforts to stay in his favor.
