Please correct me if I am wrong ( incoming rant)

but, I hear members of the House and Senate discussing Bush's escalation in Iraq as if it was something that "might" happen and meanwhile a portion of those troops have already been deployed. Bush has and will continue to ignore Congress. They talk about Bush's negligence and mishandling of the "war" but what about his negligence and mishandling of our country and its laws? What of his gutting of the Constitution? The arrogance of this administration gallops apace unchecked and is unfortunately aided and abetted by what is euphemistically called "the mainstream media".

How in the hell can people who KNOW these things STILL have their heads in the sand? This administration is going to manipulate a WAR with Iran, as they manipulated the obscene blood-soaked invasion and occupation of Iraq, regardless of whatever "non-binding statements" are issued by Congress. Yet, the main stream media remains silent.

The BushCoup LIES, they obfuscate, they do whatever they damn well please and have for the last 6 years. Some of us have watched them systematically dismantle our Constitution so that their ideas of "unitary executive powers" are strengthened and supported. Yet, the main stream media remains silent.

" Executive Order 13292 is real evidence of real power in the vice president's office. Since the beginning of the administration, Dick Cheney has favored measures allowing the executive branch to keep more things secret. And in March of 2003, the president gave him the authority to do it."

US Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, made a statement before the Senate that indicated this administration's belief that there is "nothing in the Constitution that guarantees habeas corpus for the individual citizen". It is horrifying to me that this outrageous BushCoup spin on our Constitution has made such a small impact. And the main stream media remains silent.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/011907D....

This, coupled with the Military Commissions Act of 2006 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Commissions_Act_of_2006 and the secret Gonzales/ Bush amendment to the" 2007 Defense Authorization Bill” aka ‘Posse Commitatus" http://leahy.senate.gov/press/200609/091906a.html makes me despair for America. But the main stream media remains silent.

The good news is that accountability is on the horizon, the not so good news is that we may be running out of time. The wheels of American justice turn slowly. People of conscience are careful to make sure of the facts before they act. People of conscience believe in our Constitution and its laws, they believe in habeas corpus.

The BushCoup is counting on our system of government to work as it has for 200 years and they rely on the "MSM" to remain silent and without dissent for the duration. The BushCoup disregards the truth and manipulates the law as they see fit and they further their nefarious agendas with the tacit agreement, or, more aptly, the resounding silence from the "MSM".

Is anyone else in Washington or the "MSM" alarmed at all that our delusional vice president who has made it very clear that the BushCoup will continue their unlawful "slouch toward Bethlehem" regardless of what Congress or anyone says, is becoming more obviously relevent to the Libby trial? I don't know about you, but the thought of a cornered and desperate beast like Cheney makes my blood run cold.

Some of the more courageous politicians like Patrick Leahy, Henry Waxman and John Conyers along with writers like Molly Ivins, William Rivers Pitt and Keith Olbermann have been speaking "truth to power" for a long time now but they have largely been ignored by the "MSM".

I am among a minority of people who have been fortunate enough to have access to the words of these brave individuals and others, but I never would have were it not for DU and other sites like it. Is there anyone in the "MSM" who actually gives a shit about this country? This is NOT just about 'talking points' or the right versus the left. It is not even just about the bloody and costly occupation of Iraq or the impending war with Iran…it is about the future of our country. The "MSM" spins while America falls.

I cling to the hope that a Democratic majority in the House and the Senate will finally be able to apply some brakes to the dangerous meglomania that infects our "executive branch" and I pray that someone in the "MSM" will finally wake the hell up and find the courage to shine a light on the darkness that permeates this administration. This is my hope, even though I believe the sky is already falling.

I have the same concerns...I keep saying Congress may have been lied to when it comes to Iraq, but I sure as hell wasn't..I want someone to stop him/them in their tracks...I want the secrecy to end, and the truth of what's been going on behind closed doors for the last 6 years to all be told....but who is going to do it...who's going to stop them? I worry that they have such a firm control on everything, that there is no way to break their stranglehold ...they just keep telling us to eat shit and die, as though what we want doesn't matter...how can that be? How long does the Democratic Congress get to correct what's wrong with the situation? and how long is it going to take? I don't think we have much time, considering that Gonzales is now removing States Attorneys from office on the sneak...that is NOT being done for no reason....They need to be stopped NOW...
