Draper's Meadow Massacre, July 30, 1755
This Indian Massacre also took place at the present site of Virginia Tech.. I remember the monument to Draper's Meadow clearly, talked about this event in my Appalachian Studies class there, and read the book "Follow The River" which is based on these real life events..

Perhaps this land is cursed?

This is particularly eerie..

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech Duck Pond is a peaceful place, especially in spring, when students stroll across the bridges or sprawl on the grass to study in the sun. But a half-buried stone marker recalls a day when death issued from the woods:

"The Drapers Meadow Massacre," it reads. "July 8, 1755."

1. Tragic story
and one that Native Americans can tell hundreds of more times than the white man can.

5. Yes, although this particular event dealt with the Indians
Massacring the with people in the area, although with probably fairly good reason.

4. Cursed indeed. I wouldn't doubt it.
I read "Follow the River" long time ago. Thanks for this.
