Can you help find the story of the Determined Veteran at DC March?
I've seen this gentleman's picture in a couple threads with pix from the March and I'd love to know if anyone knows his story and the story of his flag? Can you help to keep this kicked in case someone who knows him or knows the man who was pushing his wheelchair might see it and tell us about him? Thanks in advance, he is the real story, his determination is inspiring.
(This picture is Seemunkee's found in his thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=59575&mesg_id=59575 )

1. Oh my God I remember seeing him
I know there's a story there. He was in his wheelchair going by when my friend Susan and I were sitting on a bench at the mall and tears welled up as I looked at that flag and saw the bullet holes and the fact that this flag was an old flag (prior to Hawaii and Alaska becoming states). I hope someone comes up with the story. Thanks for posting. I wanted to take a picture of him then, but I kind of felt it would be a crass intrusion or something, I missed that opportunity.

2. I didn't think I could get anymore emotional about him, now I find
out the flag has bullet holes in it!! He's amazing, and the fact that he walked as much as he did when he could have used the wheelchair is what we should all keep in mind and do everything we can to get our troops home.

4. No shit, bullet holes?
This old guy is an inspiration, and I'd love to see the backstory. Olberman maybe?

6. Wow, he looks and thinks like my Dad, but it's not him.
Seems to be a WWII vet and his grandson. My Dad would have gone, but couldn't make the trip from Minnesota at age 87.
