Mort Zuckerman was on McLaughlin this week and said that the stimulus was a big fat failure because there was so much pork and they had given way too much money to the states. He mentioned in particular a high speed rail line between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, which he characterized as a boondoggle for Harry Reid. When asked what the money should have been spent on, he replied: "infrastructure."

The Villagers are dumber than usual right now. Why is that?

1. On Right Wing Radio, as they rant about stimulus, they run commercials urging listeners...

.... to be scammed in the name of it. "President Obama has authorized a blah blah blah mortgage program, and you should call us right now about refinancing...."

Last month it was, "President Obama's first time buyer program is for everyone actually, call us about investing in real estate..."

Shows how little he and his fellow no nothing Republicans understand about economics.

8. Who pushed for the high speed rail?

Reid or Ensign?? Could have been either, or both. They want to bring people in to Las Vegas to spend all their money there. Why does he assume that it was Reid alone?

11. A little off topic, but that rail between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, will probably

be used by the permanent residents of Las Vegas who are leaving because their jobs are drying up. I seem to run into one ex-Las Vegas resident in my doctor's practice every week, as they are relocating their medical as well as their residence, and I live 200 miles north of Los Angeles. They have left permanently and have moved here. If I'm seeing what would amount to a straw poll in numbers up here, I can't imagine how many are moving into Los Angeles.

So that really would be a boondoggle for Harry Reid as probably most of his constituents are flying the coop.
