5. K&R means "kick and recommend."
n/t means no text, just a subject line.

When you leave a post on a thread, it gets "kicked" to the top of the list.

And welcome to DU.

7. OK...
:hi:
K & R means kick and recommend. 'Kicking' a post means it will go to the top of the page again. Some people use this icon :kick:
(colon, the word kick, colon) to show that they're putting this on top the page on purpose, not just automatically.

n/t in the subject line means 'no text'. There's only the witty, catchy subject line, no actual message in the text box. This saves time.
Sometimes (fer instance, as in the TOONs that n2doc so kindly compiles for us :applause: ), you want to recommend the post and kick it to the top of the page...but you might not have anything to say.
So you'll end up with something that looks like:
____________________________

K & R n/t
_________________________
:kick:

_____________________

Icons don't count as text.

Clear as mud? :pals:

Become even Angrier!

And welcome to DU

K mean that you have kicked the topic by reading and commenting. Some people go to the Smilies lookup table and put in a kicking donkey as well.

And R means you have recommended it by clicking the recommend button at the very lefthand bottom of the post.

Make sure if you want to rec that you don't accidentally Unrec.
The Unrec feature is dangerously close to the Rec feature. (For those of us with mobility problems, and tremors etc. And for some of us like me who can be absent minded.)

Also when you see a post that has n/t after it, it means "No text". I used to think that n/t meant no thanks! So I couldn't understand why a post stating "Let's all get rid of the Repugs at the voting places tomorrow" might have
so many people responding with that n/t in there...

3. "You know, Cenk, you're putting me in a really awkward position...
Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 03:27 PM by FiveGoodMen
...because I'm not a Blue Dog and I'm not going to criticize the Blue Dogs, because I think we all have the same goal, and that's to get comprehensive healthcare reform passed..."

I don't exactly find that reassuring.

She seems to be saying that it would be nice to protect the public, but what really matters is that they can say they passed something.

PS: That's in response to the last link in the OP.

12. I don't believe I just read the words "Bachmann" and "hotness" in the same sentence.
:eyes:

Okay, Palin, sure, but Bachmann?! I'd sooner date Ann Coulter. At least we'd have something in common; believe it or not, Annthrax was a Deadhead!

16. Sorry
I know we're going OT with this, but it's my strong opinion that Palin is anything but hot. Every time I look at her she makes me want to hurl.

18. Did that dumb ass just say "I had a great career as a federal tax attorney
...but I don't need government to make me happy?"

So this fool was a federal attorney and is now a member of Congress, both GOVERNMENT jobs, and she's saying that "she doesn't need government to make her happy??! Good God!

23. It just shows they are full of empty slogans and poorly thought out ideology.
Did you see the Schwarzenegger video where he rips government and then completely contradicts himself seconds later?

19. Republicans have always had a woman problem
because they mainly represent the 'white male system', which means to exclude everyone who isn't white or isn't male.

20. O Reilly off his meds again eh?
I swear, that boy needs his brain scrubbed with a new loofah sponge..
Not only does any woman with an IQ above that of a lima bean abhor Palin and Bachmann, those 2 are the antithesis of what it means to be a bright intelligent articulate human being, woman or man. Just because they have vaginas doesnt mean they arent the 2 sorriest and most ridiculous psychotic cretins ever to grace the airwaves. Throw Malkin and Coulter into that fray, and you have a shrill illiterate 4some that represent the very worst kind of people inhabiting the planet.
