Girl, 2, listed as vandalism suspect
Girl, 2, listed as vandalism suspect

TROWBRIDGE, England, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- A 2-year-old British girl was treated as a suspect by police after her neighbor accused her of vandalizing his car with a stick, documents revealed.

A Freedom of Information request for details of offenses in England's Wiltshire county committed by children under 10 resulted in the release of documents pertaining to the toddler, who was accused of criminal damage by a neighbor who said she deliberately hit his car with a tree branch, The Sun reported Thursday.

Investigators listed the girl as a suspect despite the fact she is too young to be charged or questioned by authorities.

A Wiltshire police official confirmed the incident.

"It is an astonishingly young age. The matter was resolved to the satisfaction of the people whose property was alleged to have been damaged," the official said. "It was a mountain out of a molehill."

5. By nature, yes indeed. That is why they are also small
Small means they can't wield a very big branch.

Every morning when my wayward daughter worked at a day care, opening time: 'the Vandals are coming! The Vandals are coming!' (never to early to start teaching history to the little tykes)

4. Guy notices his car's been vandalized....
calls the cops to file a report, grievance, whatever you want to call it.

So who do the police think did it? Probably the 2 year old next door who admitted to doing it. So who's the suspect? The 2 year
old.

I don't see the story here.

7. It is more of a technical thing
Listing someone that age as a suspect in an official report - that gets entered into the system. Imagine years later she goes to apply for a job and her name shows up on a background check (example, she is going for a secret clearance, etc).

I would imagine in most cases they don't use the name of the toddler but a phrase like 'parents of a toddler' etc.

8. Uh, I don't think that's how it works.
I don't think "suspect" is listed on criminal background checks. Particularly for minors.

6. This would be hilarious if it weren't true.
A 2 year old is so capable of knowing how to vandalize. :eyes: I mean they could vandalize anything they put their hands on if parents aren't watching. What silly crap.
