Semi-annual shout out to all our Red State DUers
Once again, thanks so much for putting up with everything you put up with. It's hard enough being a Democrat where I live, and I live in NEW YORK! I can't even imagine what a pain in the butt it is putting up with the Republican craziness all around you all the time.

So a virtual toast, to you, the Red State Democrats!

1. Where's the Shout-out for us Purple State DUers
Seriously, what determines a state's color?

Lots of Dems get elected in North Carolina.

But they're frequently less progressive than Republicans in other states.

5. Where in Virginia?
As far as I can tell it's essentially two states:

The blue blue suburbs of DC

And the red red everywhere else.

With pockets of resistance scattered around.

8. Northern Virginia, just outside the Beltway.
Fortunately, the major population centers of VA swing Democratic. If VA ever starts allocating votes on the Electoral College model (say county by county) we will be well and truly fucked.

13. Indiana here
Where a Republican (Lugar) seems more progressive at times than our Democrat (Bayh). <sigh>

10. Thanks.
I live in the very red southwestern part of Virginia and am surrounded by right-wingers. It makes one weary.

11. Here's to you.
Raise your glasses ladies and gentlemen to our couragious brothers and sisters who bravely continue to work for the cause inside the asylum.

My hat is off to you.
