Shoes, shampoo and bullets

This was raised by a caller to the Mike Malloy program last night. I thought it might be worth paraphrasing here:

A couple years ago, some idiot tries to blow up his shoe on an airplane. Now we all take off our shoes before boarding any flight.

A couple crazies decide they're going to fantasize about some lunatic plot to make liquid explosives on a plane. Now we all dutifully dump our shampoo and mouthwash at the security check.

Yesterday, some nutcase pulls out a couple concealed handguns and blows away 32 people; which is just the latest incident on our way to another 30,000 gun deaths -- yes, ten 9/11's -- that we have each year. Now we do....what? Nothing? Just accept it as the price we pay for living in a free society?

Something to think about while you're waiting in the shoe-scanning line at the airport.

Actually, whenever I hear some selfish ass say it could have been stopped if the VT students were armed, I kinda wish I had a loaded gun and clear aim.

Can you imagine arming 26,000 college students? Especially considering a good number of them are skating their way to graduation and probably partying hearty quite a bit.
