Really. In case, you aren't familiar with the bare bones of the race, here's a brief sketch: Dede Scozzafava is the Repub candidate. She supports abortion rights and marriage equality.
She's been heavily funded by the RCC and endorsed by the like of Newt Gingrich on the right and Markos Moulitas on the left. Doug Hoffman is running far, far to her right on the Conservative Party ticket and has been endorsed and funded heavily by the right. Palin has endorsed Hoffman as has the Club for Growth, Steve Forbes and other uber wingnuts. The Dem candidate is a guy named Bill Owens who looks to be of the Blue Dog persuasion. In recent polls, Hoffman has been gaining ground fast. Could he win? Yeppers. It's a distinct possibility, but the main goal of the wingnutters is to defeat Scozzafaza. From the other side of Lake Champlain, I've been watching the ads which are now deeply in nasty territory. Dems and the Scozzafaza contingent are weighing in heavily with ads against Hoffman. Hoffman who's plenty well funded is aiming primarily at Scozzafaza. The dem will likely win, but the right will count it as a major victory for Palin if Hoffman gets more votes than Scozzafaza.

It's getting interesting in upstate NY.

1. Pyhrric victory for Palin if Hoffman gets more votes than Scozzafaza
Good luck getting support from the RNC after playing her role as Brutus.

2. Excellent point, though I wonder if the RNC won't simply fold
should Hoffman do better than Scozzafaza. Fascinating dynamics in play in this race.

3. Watching this one. I see smirking "teabag Tim" Pawlenty endorsed Hoffman as well.
I don't get the endgame for opportunists like Pawlenty. I guess it seems "logical" for them to pander to the teabaggers, but how does that help them in 2012.

4. They are only focused on the Primaries and Caucuses. General? Not so much.

5. I'd guess that Pawlenty and Palin and their cohorts
believe that Americans want what they're selling- or at least that they can bullshit people into buying it.
