Where are those who gave their lives in Iraq from?

4. Not really. As the map's legend shows, the darker the tint, the higher the per capita deaths.

According to the map, the highest rates (military deaths per capita state population) were Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Lousiana. But no state is uniformly 'red' or 'blue' ... with the higher dennsity populations in and around urban areas accounting for most Democratic voters. (They're people who know more people.)

6. There is a huge blob over the D. C. area

When I was up at the candlelight vigil in D.C. after Bush announced his insane Escalation program, the local organizers that put it together read the names of local soldiers who had died in Iraq from Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. We stood in the cold across from the White House with our candles. It was such a solemn moment. To hear names read from local areas was so touching. Dale City, Woodbridge, Manassas, Arlington, Washington, D.C., Bethesda, Silver Spring, etc. There were snuffles in the quiet crowd as we stood across from the White House. And when all the names were read, we put our candles out.

Since that time, a 45 year old father lost his life in Iraq from Stafford, VA.
