Combating the lost 'ic' in 'Democratic Party'
Just had a brain flash here...

I know it's petty and minor to fuss overmuch about being called the "Democrat Party", and I shouldn't let it get to me.

Now, having said the nice PC crap, I got an idea...

Occasionally, have a little 'slip' and call them the "Republicstan Party"

1. I say, steal their IC as well.
And highlight the theft by calling them RePUBElans.

2. I don't think we can do that
The word forms are different. It is the Republican Party, so if you steal the ending you get "Republic Party". Republic is our form of government, so it still works.

I guess you could steal the 'ic' and get Republan Party, which I guess might be insulting, if less subtle and more odd.

Steal the 'ic' from Democratic Party, you get 'Democrat Party'. Democrat is not a form of government, Democracy is. The implication is that is it not a party of Democracy, but a party of Democrats.

3. I say shorten their label down to the true essence.

Just call them "The Cons" or "The Con Party. Every day, in every speech or interview by every Democrat who wants to be respected. "The Cons." "The Con Party." None of this cute Repukes or Repugs. Go straight to the core. "The Cons" say this. "The Cons" say that.

(edit typos)

4. A member of the Republican Party...
might be a Republicon. So we'd have Republicon John McCain or Republicon Medicare Bill. Basically, this is just fouling their -an, and actally just their -a as we leave the 'n'.

Still, it defies the conventions for word endings indicating being from some place (ie. Washingtoni-an). Alas.
