The price of no filibuster on Alito for the Supreme Court. "Partial-birth" abortion now a crime.
Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 07:21 AM by Cyrano
Yesterday, the SCOTUS, by a 5-4 decision, made so-called "partial-birth abortion" a crime. It's my understanding that there are no exceptions, not even for the life of the mother (but I might be mistaken on that). Next month, or next year, it could well be all abortions.

Although the Democrats were in the minority when Alito was placed on the court, they could have and should have filibustered his appointment till hell freezes over.

But now he's there and, short of impeaching him or one of the other wingnut Justices, we're going to be seeing many more horrors coming from these "strict constructionists" on issues that are mentioned nowhere in the Constitution.

The court is well on the way to fulfilling the fundie's most insane dreams. And the rest of us are so screwed.

1. I think women will have to re-fight this stuff over and over
I am not sure why men have always had so much say over how I live my life but they always have and it will be a long time before things even up. Face it is is better than when I was a kid. I was born in the 30's. Two steps forward and one back. It it is only that bad we are moving.

3. I notice that Harry Reid commented about Alito yesterday.
Reid also voted for the ban.

Face it people, the problem is not the Supreme Court. Our Democratic "leadership" helped pass that legislation. Without them, the Supreme Court would have had nothing to discuss.

4. At some point some of the Supremes are going to need investigating
Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 07:42 AM by KoKo01
to find "improprieties" in their lifestyle. Alito and Thomas has some stuff coming out about them in the Blogosphere awhile back...but it didn't get traction. Alito was accepting money for talks that were above the guidelines for Supremes and Thomas was doing the same thing...but I don't remember the details. Alito is the one most vulnerable unless Clarence is back to his Long Dong days and ordering porn from Netflix or something.

More investigation....and we need to pray that no Supreme resigns or dies before 2009. :scared:

6. Not to mention Thomas.
Although our justice system was never perfect, it was, at one time, the "envy of the world." Today, it's closer to the envy of hell.

People like Scalia, Thomas and Alito can't wait to turn the U.S. into their version of a "Christian country." And they're going to be around for a long, long time after Bush and Cheney are gone.

I don't know what grounds for impeachment are regarding a Supreme Court justice, but the Dems need to find anything possible to get rid of at least one of these self-righteous remnants of the Dark Ages.
