Article from my local paper on our local protest yesterday

NEW BEDFORD — Six-year-old Isaac York stood at the corner of Routes 140 and 6 holding a poster board he had colored with magic marker.
In unsteady, child-like handwriting, his sign read: "No more war please."
Underneath the words, Isaac, of New Bedford, had drawn a picture of two stick figures fighting, with a red line drawn through it.
"It took me a night and a morning to make this, but I had to because war is bad," said Isaac, holding his sign in the air. "War hurts people."
Isaac was one of some 150 people who stood at the intersection near Buttonwood Park yesterday afternoon to protest the Iraq war. Most of the protesters held homemade signs with slogans like: "Iraq for Iraqis," "Hey USA, Hands off Iran," and "Money for jobs and education, not war and occupation."
Just about every other driver who passed through the busy intersection honked their horns or waved.

I took my digital camera with me, but I got so involved in the networking part of the rally (meeting and making contacts locally was so refreshing and exciting), I didn't even take it out of my pocket.

4. I was impressed by the local rally's diversity

in gender and age, but it sorely lacked in people of color. We need to find a way, locally, to reach out to that segment of the population and motivate them to come out and join us.
