Obama: I'll end don't-ask, don't-tell . . . that was a campaign promise too.
And all of a sudden everybody is being sold the bill of goods from corporate headquarters that Obama PROMISED to send these 50,000 troops into Afghanistan. And that we weren't "listening". Holy cannoli.

1. A little hope and change for your holiday season Bluebear
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 12:24 PM by Horse with no Name
the hope turned out to be "Hope nobody was listening too closely" and the change is the "cha-ching" in the pockets of the corporations.

23. Yeah, I really liked that promise.
"If they fuck up the reform they eventually come up with, at least I'll be able to continue to just not have any fucked up insurance..." I told myself.

Ahh well... under the bus with the independent contractors too... :hi:

Plans are already in the works.

Then you are either

2) want a pony
3) expect him to do everything NOW
4) Don't understand the political realities of this complex world.

I say BS. Why the hell is not candidate OBAMA running our country?

11. Obama promises kept: 55 Broken 7
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises

I think he's doing quite well in the promises kept department.

And the plan is to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" next calendar year (2010).

17. Perhaps you shouldn't have included the link.
You boiled it down to:

Promises kept: 55
broken: 7

Link clickers will see:

* Promise Kept 55
* Compromise 14
* Promise Broken 7
* Stalled 17
* In the Works 163
* Not yet rated 259

1/4 way through his term, 10 percent of promises were kept so far. 90%, not so much.

I expect that rate to go down, not up, as we get closer to 2010 elections, and even more then as he gets closer to reelection.

232 of 515 promises kept, compromised, or in the works in less than a year. That's pretty amazing.

24. "In the works" doesn't mean squat.
DADT is probably considered by some to be "in the works" if there's a study going on.

And "compromised" could be good or awful. See the CEO bailout. You might consider that a promise kept. Me, not so much.

Well, actually, I take that back. I'm guessing he did promise that to someone.

And the beer summit.

And time for keeping the health insurance industry happy.

Apparently, the promise to send more troops to Afghanistan is the only one he's definitely going to make good on.
