The Hard Numbers on Afghanistan
In 6 years, from 1/1/2003 to 1/19/2009, there were 1,472 OPs about Afghanistan in GD and GD:P. An average of: 20 per month, 4.7 per week, 0.7 per day.

In 0.8 years (10 months), from 1/20/2009 to 12/1/2009 (today), there have been 1,273 OPs about Afghanistan. An average of: 127 per month, 28 per week, 4.2 per day.

This is not about whether sending more troops to Afghanistan is the right or wrong decision. This about, where was all the outrage around here for 6 years when Bush was making things worse in Afghanistan by letting it all go to hell after invading Iraq and then doing jack shit in Afghanistan? There's been more ranting and raving around here since Obama took office then ever before. Yet it is Obama who is finally going to try to do something. You may disagree with his plan, but why is it necessary to throw around the personal attacks at people who have an honest disagreement with you? Why all the rage? Where was it when the man who started this whole damn mess was actually in office?

I see posts calling for Obama to be run out of office in 2012. I see posts about Obama that rise to the level of hatred shown toward Bush. Lockstep "cheerleading" is not the answer, but honest, rational debate is. What happened to that?

2. War is irrational. Why would people respond with anything else?

3. Once Iraq started winding down, the next natural target was Afghanistan.
I could see it coming. It went from a war no one was really interested in here to the worst catastrophe known to mankind within months.
