Remember the organization "World Without War"?

Back in the 80's - the idea was do do whatever it took to move beyond war.

They have since reformed as something different entirely

But the idea - a world without war - is this even possible?

If not, why not?

If so - how do we get there?

1. No, a world without war is not possible. ... at least as long as there are such things as:

1. Nation-states

2. Scarce resources

3. Both can be eliminated

Not sure on the Nation States - perhaps if we ever are visited by aliens that might put things into perspective - or if we give up the vain concept of an afterlife

As for scare resources - my bet is that the advances in nanotechnology and genetic engineering will eliminate the scarcity of many resources

4. Well, that second reason is even bigger than the first.

I think genetic engineering will do a lot to help food production in the third world, though you'll have to clue me in on how nanotechnology is a major factor here.

But, essentially, if everyone in the world didn't go hungry, had a roof over their heads, had enough diversions to make life worth living, and had power enough to make all of this possible, I don't think war would be much of an issue.

2. I don't know that it is possible--but one of the first things is to stop funding the MIC killing

machine. Second--and something I have advocated forever--every person who votes for a war, who votes the funding for war, has to, along with every family member of age, be the first to go over there.

let them put THEIR bodies, and those of THEIR loved ones, in harm's way first. let's see how many of them are so gung-ho at that point.

5. I believe the trend is toward eventual world peace.

Green sustainable technology is one required component.

I also believe as the world develops, birth rates will drop and this will put less pressure on resources and facilitate mass instant multi-way communication decreasing the motivation and manipulative power for going to war.

While the Internet and sustainable technology are long term answers, I also believe Space Exploration; as a relief valve, source of additional resources and expansion to be another essential component for eventual peace on Earth.

People will have to overcome their natural inclination toward nationalism or tribalism and to this end there will be a global government, but I don't see any other way to end war on this blue marble.
