I voted for a president that said he would increase the troops, and was against gay marriage
He also said he was against DADT.

If you stand by him now for his troop increase (which is LARGER than he said he supported) and can excuse his actions because he said so in his campaign, can you also tell him and others you are on board with his views on gay marriage?

For those telling me to 'shut up' because Obama said he would increase troops there (by 2-3 brigades, less than he is now and that does not include other troops sent earlier this year) then should I tell you to shut up when he does nothing about gay rights?

Since when has any politician ever kept their campaign promises? Remember that whole 'keep your powder dry until you get elected', 'playing chess', etc?

We waited. We voted. There has been some change - but the BIG changes we wanted/needed all got pushed aside because banks needed money, military needed money, and the rest of us just need to wait until it all 'trickles down'.

I like Obama, glad he is our president, think he has potential - but on some things he is just wrong, and just because he was for it before the election does not mean I was for it too when I voted for him.

I chose the best candidate - it does not mean I endorsed all their views by voting for them.

1. Thanks for the reasoned post.
I'm skeptical about the escalation too, but I'm not going to claim I was somehow diabolically misled.

2. Yep. Politicians are cowards. They have to be coerced into doing what we the people want.
"Keeping your powder dry" is counter-productive.

3. I voted for the man who wanted to end both wars now and supported gay marriage.
He lost in the primary, sadly.

Of course, then I voted for Obama.

7. None of this crap..
.. has jack shit to do with campaign promises. I agree, every campaigner promises the moon and delivers green cheese.

The problem is that in not one single area is Obama doing well. He still thinks warrantless wiretaps are ok. He thinks the SS visitor logs to the WH should be secret. He believes that it is important to bail out Goldmans Sachs but fuck everyone else. He is going to get us out of Iraq, sometime, and he's going to start to pull out of Afghan but then the pullout might take years.

Obama sucks and if I have to live with a FUCKUP in the white house I would prefer it be a Republican as usual.

12. I could care less what the man SAYS
It what he DOES that bothers me. Or, more often, what he DOESN'T do. I do not trust what he SAYS.

If he wants to get my vote for re-election then he fucking needs to either put up or shut up.
