Target Calls Cops On Breastfeeding Shoppers
The AP says that police were called when Target employees tried to throw a couple out of the store because the woman was breastfeeding in the electronics aisle. The husband, a Detroit police officer, says they were told by the security guard that the act was “against the law.”

Obviously, as police officer, he knew that wasn't true.

The National Conference of State Legislatures says that Michigan is one of the 28 states that exempt breastfeeding from public indecency laws.

Target says they regret the incident, but, "This specific situation escalated to a point where we were concerned for the safety of our guests, so law enforcement was called. We regret the incident in our store and will continue to provide a shopping environment that respects the needs of all guests, including nursing mothers."

The mom told the local Fox affiliate, "Forcing me out of the store. Two security guards, the manager or team leader, two officers, they just made a spectacle and a scene. I feel like I can't go to that specific Target anymore."

The manager of the store told Fox breastfeeding is "not discouraged" in her store. Hmm.

2. I guess I just don't get all the recent fury over breastfeeding
I breastfed my babies, as did my best friend-neighbor. We took our kids shopping all the time.. with a small bottle (for emergencies)..we never "had" to feed them on a shopping trip because we planned our trips around their feedings..maybe we were being "prudish", but I like to think we were just experienced Moms who knew our kids' schedules:)

the only thing I hated about breastfeeding was when we returned home after dinner out and I really NEEDED to feed that baby..and the first words out of the sitter's mouth? " I just gave him a bottle":grr:

3. My wife gave birth to and breast fed two of our children while ON A SCHOOL BOARD!
She'd feed them during the meetings and nobody cared. She made a couple of shawls for the purpose and would just tuck the kid under and latch her on. She didn't use the shawl all of the time, just when it might be a distraction - like during budget discussions.

Contrary to popular belief, women DO NOT have tits for the single purpose of exciting men. They are there TO BREASTFEED BABIES! I know this will be news to the fundies who wouldn't dream of letting a baby near their always-hidden nipples, but that is what they are there for.

What the hell is WRONG with these people?
