Hundreds of New Yorkers rally in Times Square for marriage equality.

Progressives were outraged and dismayed by yesterday’s defeat of same-sex marriage legislation in the New York State Senate. Bill sponsor Sen. Tom Duane (D) said he felt “betrayed” by the lawmakers who had promised to vote for marriage equality but then backed down, and Gov. David Paterson (D) promised to “redouble our efforts.” Yesterday night, hundreds of marriage equality supporters gathered in Times Square to protest the defeat of the bill. Blabbeando reports, “Most of the anger seemed directed at the 8 Democrats who voted against the bill with the crowd chanting ‘Vote them out! Vote them out!’”

4. Tom Duane
said on WNYC this morning that several Rethugs told him they would vote for the bill and then did not.

I think he should out them as payback for lying to him.

3. Rec. If Christine Quinn speaks at the rally can someone ask....
....her what ... if anything.... her patron and mentor, Mr. Bloomberg ( $500,000 to republican state senate candidates in '08, that we know about), did ( lobbying, arm-twisting, horsetrading, money to favored charities etc. etc. etc. ) to get marriage equality passed?

My guess is, "not much". (30-0 NO in GOP caucus). But I'd be interested in hearing what she has to say.
