Will they ignore us? ..there are an awful lot of unhappy Americans right now..and I bet the folks around the world who know better are also wondering wtf is going on with our new commander in chief..

People are going to start marching again..and organizing again...even here, the unrec crew has been a little stunned by all of this and while their busy little fingers are still unrec-ing away..they just cant keep up with the backlash...its quite profound actually to see the groundswell of folks who disapprove...

Can he really afford to ignore the will of the people?...what happens if Congress refuses to fund the war?..is it just the house who funds?..

And his disapproval is back down to 42%. I see no signs of fallout.

The fact of it is, for every leftbagger who's turned Obama-hater over the Afghanistan surge, there's at LEAST one (if not two, or three) average Americans who will rally around our President, even if he wasn't their favorite beforehand.

Because if it's overall, then it's still serious fallout. Repukes might say in a poll that they approve of his action in regard to the escalation, but they won't vote for him. He needs his base and the independents to do that, and THOSE are the important numbers.

There will be some Repukes and Indies who may approve of the surge, but still not of Obama -- but there will just as many other Indies and even moderate-to-liberal Reps. who will actually rally around Obama in entirety, perhaps prompted by support for Obama's endeavor in Afghanistan. The Gallup daily tracking approval poll seems to support such speculation:

He last fell to 49% in the November 29 - December 1 measure (it's a three-day rolling average.) Obama gave the West Point speech the evening of the 1st, on Tuesday. Ever since, he has been rising.

(His first dip below 50% was in the November 17 - 19 measure, that was the end of the week when Holder announced he was going to give KSM a civil trial, and in NYC. Bowgate II (with Akihito) hit that weekend, which may have contributed to his low approval for a few days at least after that.)
