I saw a guy on the road today that had a big sign on the back of his pickup. Two big flags along with the question "Does My Flag Offend You? Call 1-800-Leave-the-USA." I passed the truck and saw that the driver, an older man, had a couple more flags on his dashboard.

If the guy had asked me to my face if his flag offended me, I would have said, "No our flag does not offend me. You, however, do." Seeing all the suffering and pain caused these past few years by jingoism poisoning, I don't have much use for such people anymore.

3. I have been seeing this lately

People driving around with their cars and trucks with an American flag mini-flagpole on the car.

Not an American flag decal, or even a flag hung in the window or something, it is a small poll with a flag mounted on it.

I can't recall ever seeing these before November of last year.

Has Glenn Beck been telling people to do this or something?

4. I've seen those before

Even before the election last year I'd occasionally see cars with one or more of these poles on their vehicles.

I remember last year I saw this guy going down the road with two big flags attached to the back of his pickup. My first thought was how could he even see out his rear-view mirrors with the flags flapping around so much. Second one was to wonder if he was compensating for something.

I'm sure Freud would have a field day with that. There's something creepy about such in-your-face patriotism, if that's what it's tryng to represent.

the fact that most of them are tattered and worn and faded long past what would pass for respect ...

and how many of those I've seen lying on the roadside ...

Now, if a "lefty" had done that, there would be a major uproar ...

5. I know what you mean. The implication is that liberals, non RWers, muslins, gays, etc,

are offended by the flag, because they aren't "real" Americans (I hate that term).

But if you take his statement literally, that some person somewhere is actually "offended" by the American flag, then he suggests that person should call a hotline to discuss the option of leaving the USA. Looking at it that way, I can sort of see his point.

But of course, we all know it wasn't meant that way.

6. I saw a car today with a bumper sticker that said...

I support our President and our troops. The sticker had some wear to it so I'm guessing it was about 5 yrs old. Then I just marveled at how much more use he will be getting out of that bumper sticker as of late. The $2 bumper sticker really got it's money worth.

...and now can't get it off without removing a layer of paint in the process.

8. Yeah I saw a mini chevy truck,S-10?, today with a camper top on the back

with a */Chenny 04 sticker next to a flag half unstuck then a support the troops sticker then another half stuck flag on the toppers window. The truck was a 2003, rusted worse then my 78 Ford van, on top of that he had to crawl across the seat to get out through the passenger door, getting back into the truck he had to reach through the passenger door window. I so wanted to ask him how the * tax cuts were helping him so far, but seeing as it was a nit wit he would probably blame Granholm for his being out of work and broke. Granholm was bought and paid for by the EPA and unions, both are responsible for michigans job loss.
