Man dressed as elf causes mall evacuation

Southlake Mall was evacuated Wednesday night after a man dressed as an elf allegedly told the mall Santa that he was carrying dynamite.
Dressed like an elf, William C. Caldwell told Santa Claus that he had dynamite in his bag, police said.

But when the GBI bomb squad examined three packages left near Santa, the incident was declared a ho-ho-hoax.

The bad elf, William C. Caldwell III, was being held without bond Thursday in the Clayton County Jail, charged with having hoax devices, making terroristic threats, false imprisonment, simple assault, reckless conduct, disorderly conduct and false public alarm.

3. In economic times like we have now it is going to ignite a lot of anger

when we can no longer pretend to be big spenders. I do not blame the churches for this - it was business that turned Christmas into an orgy of materialism. Now when it is not possible to keep this "tradition" going there is going to be a lot of anger - directed both inward toward the family and outward toward business. We sewed the seeds and now we are reaping the harvest.
