Glenn Beck is a political disciple of W. Cleon Skousen, a very right-wing Mormon who was active during the 50s, 60s and 70s.

That is why Beck is talking all the time about Maoism and communism ... his hero died at age 92 in January 2006, but his heyday was in the Cold War years of the 60s and 70s.

Being a convert, Beck has the usual 'conversion zeal' -- he is understood by knowing what Skousen was all about: extreme, fundamentalist, authoritarian, right-wing Mormonism.

That's my analysis, anyway.
