We are battlestations right now, sand on some of the bridges just north of New Orleans. Probably a few flurries about midnight, should all be gone by sunrise, NOLA may get some slush, but the locals are panicing. Gimme some of dat sunshine.

I am thankful that tomorrow is not a workday cause Boo-dro and Tee-ba-doe don't do too good on slick roadways (nor do I.)

Had a beautiful Thanksgiving in NOLA, spent the night and had the place almost to ourselves.

I also had a great time in Miami - We had great food - jerked turkey and a regular turkey, way too much to drink, great tales from way back and non-stop laughter.

3. Up here in the north east, we are expecting a few inches tomorrow

First snow of the season is always cool. It gets old quickly though!

4. It was 12 degrees outside when I got up this morning

and the sun was up so the low must've been 10 or lower.

This seems to be setting up to be a standard pattern every year, bitter cold in the west and record warmth in the east until the whole thing flips in late January or early February.

I'm too old for this crap.

6. Snow cover in Ontario seems to be an important part of eastern US weather

until this week there was no snow on the ground in Ontario according to the NOAA snow cover animation.

17. I hate the cold weather

My ears and nose get red and my feet hurt. I turn down free tickets year after year and some of my siblings can't understand why I won't visit them for Christmas.

I can remember playing shirts vs skins touch football at Texas A&M in finals week.

15. Waves back...pretty seasonal weather here.

It could be 8-17 inch snowfalls any time a low-pressure moves through from here until April.

Mostly, I prefer 6 months of snow to 30 days of AUGUST in College Station, TX.

Actually, I prefer 60 years of snow to 30 days of August in College Station.

7. Supposed to get a little here in PA overnight Saturday into Sunday....

Got the 4 wheel drive, got the wood pellets, and just got 2 quarts of ice cream and a box of brownie mix.

It came. It went. Kids got out of school early, highways were a mess, rose bushes are covered.

It didn't stick around. There was enough that it managed to build up an inch or so on the grass, but never stuck on pavement and with the air above freezing it gradually melted away.

Still, enough for some diminutive snowmen in the neighborhood and some running snowball fights. With, of course, the usual well-behaved kids who figure that windows are always good targets, esp. on houses where there are no kids and the inhabitants are off working.

The overnight low of 25 F is going to be a delight. Just enough to kill off all kinds of plants that the US government has recently said are cold hardy enough for this zone.

22. THe bad thing about snow in texas is that all folks in 4-wheel drive vehicles love the 4-wheel go,

but they don't realize they don't have 4-wheel stop in the snow.


I hope the snow makes it to Savannah. My year old has never had a snowflake land on his tongue.

23. We're such a bunch of wussies here. Less than an inch of snow & Houston shuts down.

Parents were lined up outside my school by 12:00 trying to pick up their kids early to avoid "all the chaos". Then the principal comes over the intercom and announces that all the afterschool activities were being canceled, including the school play, "A Modern Scrooge." That's right, they canceled the Christmas Play because of snow.

Humbug!
