Poll question: Is anyone here opposed to the public option?
Seems like we're all on the same page. Is anyone against the public option?

1. only in the sense that it SHOULD be a single-payer system, not a '(screw over the)public-option'

2. single-payer is the best public option, but I'll settle for the "lite" version.

3. single-payer is not a public 'option'.
everyone gets covered, whether they like it or not.

6. So everyone being covered is a BAD thing?
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 07:01 PM by Sebastian Doyle
I'd agree if you meant everybody forced to pay Stephen Hemsley or his ilk. But how could it be a bad thing for everyone to be covered by single payer?

As for the poll, here's where I'm at:

First Choice: Single Payer

Second Choice: A TRUE public option available to all. (no triggers, no co-ops, no opting in out or sideways, no bullshit)

Third Choice: Do nothing and start over. Repeat until you get to one of the two acceptable choices.

8. However, right now, single-payer is still merely an "option", albeit, not being considered.

9. single-payer and 'the public option' are two entirely different things.

4. Your subject line says "the," while your poll says "a."
The public option we're likely to get is a quarter-assed corporate Band-Aid. It seems, however, that it will be marginally better than the nothing so many millions currently have, and that margin could be crucial to the well-being of entire families.

5. Nice to know that someone could tell the difference
I wanted to know if people are philosophically opposed the idea of a public option.

Essentially, I wanted to know if Ben Nelson posts on DU.
