Anyone have good link to Cho's Sister working for State Dept. as Iraq Contractor?
I just got called a conspiracy theorist by family member for mentioning that. Person said I made it up.

Anyone have good link...from what family member (Repug) would accept as a "Reputable Source?"

Thanks...if you do!

4. Now this is interesting! I had no idea. What are the odds?
Spokesman Sean McCormack would not discuss Sun Cho's status but told reporters, "This person is not a direct-hire employee of the State Department."

He refused further comment, citing privacy concerns. Other US officials confirmed she worked for a contractor.

The office was set up by President George W Bush to coordinate the reconstruction program in Iraq and offers jobs to "highly skilled and motivated United States citizens" to work at the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, according to State Department documents. The office also has several Washington-based positions.

"Our mission is to support the sovereign, democratic rights of the Iraqi people to govern themselves, defend their country and rebuild their economy," the office says in its recruiting brochure. "This ongoing mission is one that is unprecedented in size and scope."

Sun Cho's current job is her third stint with the State Department, according to Princeton University, where she graduated with an economics major in 2004.

She previously worked as a summer intern at the department's International Labour Office and held a three-month economics internship in the northern summer before her senior year at the US embassy in Bangkok, sponsored by Princeton's International Internship Program.

"They were the most amazing three months of my life," Sun Cho told the university's weekly bulletin in November 24, 2003, article about the program, describing her experiences in the Thai capital.

"I found that the best way to get to know the city was taking the skytrain to random locations and walking around for a couple of hours," it quoted her as saying.

"I think it is always easy for Americans to maintain an American way of life abroad. The best thing is to avoid these traps and go out there and immerse yourself in a new culture."

The article described a visit to a border town where she saw deplorable working conditions for Burmese migrant workers.

"She said the experience was so profound that after returning to campus, she changed the focus of her senior thesis to a more labour-related topic," the article said.

6. Which odds? That someone in our government had a mentally ill brother?
That someone with an economics degree went to work for the government? That someone with the government would be involved in something to do with Iraq?

I don't see any odd connections...

I agree, its nice to know they hired someone with some good education.... I think any connection to her brother is irrelevant.

12. I still don't understand the connection.
A guy shoots 32 people, he has a sister, that sister has a job... what's there a connection to?

2. hope that AP is reputable enough
"Our family is so very sorry for my brother's unspeakable actions. It is a terrible tragedy for all of us," said Sun-Kyung Cho, a 2004 Princeton University graduate who works as a contractor for a State Department office that oversees American aid for Iraq.

5. Seems likea pretty impressive family. Grad of Prinston!
She previously worked as a summer intern at the department's International Labour Office and held a three-month economics internship in the northern summer before her senior year at the US embassy in Bangkok, sponsored by Princeton's International Internship Program.

Why haven't I heard anything about his parents? The media is always guilty of interviewing the parents of a killer and making them very uncomfortable. I haven't heard ONE WORD about thisboy's parents until this post about his sister.

everything I've read- she has to do the talking for them.

My heart goes out to them all- such sadness all around.

13. From the links above she seems like a very impressive young woman.
Perhaps this is why his ramblings steer incomprehensibly into foreign policy.

15. Why would it matter
to your family member if his sister did work for the state department. (She does, per some articles I read earlier in which she released a public statement. But I don't remember where those articles are now.)

can get him...and we don't agree on anything. And...no matter how I've tried ...we just NEVER can meet.. It's sad.

This was from a relative on the "Other Side" of the Family. Saying I was a "conspiracy theorist" unless I could provide a link. This Repub (on other side of family) thought that Cho was a Lone Killer who was deranged and supported the Dems! :eyes:

That's why I asked for RELIABLE/MAINSTREAM WHORE MEDIA links to send to them. UGH.

I have family on both sides that's hard to deal with.......but...gotta do it.
