DU has become richer since the unrec feature was added

I love love love reading the Greatest page without having to wade through contrived and redundant posts. I know unrecs arent perfect but they sure are one of the best enhancements to this website in years. Thanks Skinner!

12. One of the best features DU has come up with in the past few years.

It helps keep the "Rec if you..." and other crap off the Greatest Page. Now instead of a group of five people reccing the crap out of their own stuff, DU as a whole actually has a say in what goes in the GP.

edit: Looks like some of the whiners that hate unrec are taking advantage or it to unrec this thread. What do you expect out them though...

I never go to the greatest page. I'd rather use my own brain to determine what I read and don't read than to follow high recommendation counts.

This whole recommending thing smacks of a herd mentality sometimes and it's used at the drop of a hat most of the time just because a DUer might agree with what was written.

I'll stick with scrolling down the page.

27. I never got the "greatest" page quite frankly

I read DU like I read any other message board. Skim the first page (and maybe the second page) of the forums that I want to read. If it isn't there then it either hasn't been kicked in a while because the discussion is over or it hasn't been kicked because there is nothing to discuss.

The unrec feature hasn't done anything to change my DU experience but then again neither did the rec feature (other than maybe got a few of my threads more reads than they otherwise would have).
