Monday, 56 newspapers worldwide are running the same front-page editorial on climate change

Today 56 newspapers in 45 countries take the unprecedented step of speaking with one voice through a common editorial. We do so because humanity faces a profound emergency.

Unless we combine to take decisive action, climate change will ravage our planet, and with it our prosperity and security. The dangers have been becoming apparent for a generation. Now the facts have started to speak: 11 of the past 14 years have been the warmest on record, the Arctic ice-cap is melting and last year's inflamed oil and food prices provide a foretaste of future havoc. In scientific journals the question is no longer whether humans are to blame, but how little time we have got left to limit the damage. Yet so far the world's response has been feeble and half-hearted.

In the USA, only ONE English-language newspaper is part of this: The Miami Herald. Kudos to them, shame on the rest.

4. as long as we're really going to solve the problem
and not sign up for some carbon trading scam. i'm completely against more Kyoto-type stupidity.

build nuclear, solar, and wind infrastructure now. build it like we built the interstate highway system. then shut down the coal plants.

sending money and jobs to China while China cheats on carbon caps won't solve shit.

8. Conservatives hate the fact that climate warming isn't about the US.

Because this issue effects the whole planet, they must deny it. Afterall, if this is a worldwide phenomenon, then we are not the center of solution. We are one player in a collection of 100's of countries that would need to work together to make the solution successful. That'd be a socialist concept...can't have that!

But what if climate change deniers are wrong? They'd be condemning all people on this planet to a future that will be less hospitable for humans. Just to protect their parochial political interests.
