Kansas official stands by 'RedNeck' video
TOPEKA, Kan., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Kansas state Rep. Bill Otto said he is not planning on removing his self-described "RedNeck Rap" video from YouTube despite complaints.
Otto, a Republican, said he is sorry his online video, in which he offers critical comments about U.S. President Barack Obama, has been deemed offensive by some, including the NAACP and some of his fellow lawmakers, the Lawrence (Kan.) Journal-World reported Sunday.
The Kansas representative denied allegations the video, which featured Otto wearing a hat that read "OPOSSUM the Other Dark Meat," was not intended to appear racist.
"I had absolutely no thought of anything racial whatsoever in it," Otto said.
