Here's the most likely way as I see it.

We all act like obedient little "good Democrats" drinking the cool-aid that Rahm is feeding us. We let the administration and the conservadems continue to move to party to the right, undermining our values, blurring further the line between the parties on economic matters, alienating our activist base, and demotivating the rank and file so much that they see no reason to vote.

That's the course we're on. It's a creepy echo of the Clinton era except this time it's occurring much faster - disillusionment on internet time.

Progressive democrats have a patriotic duty to resist this. No candidate deserves unflinching support especially one that is running so fast from the values that drove his campaign.

WE MUST ALL TO SAY "NO" TO RAHM'S "COMPASSIONATE CORPORATISM" AGENDA and "YES WE CAN" to a REAL DEMOCRATIC AGENDA of "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN."

A good place to begin is to push the Congress to start over on healthcare reform with Medicare For All, or if the "Insurance Company Profit Preservation Act" does pass - to run a strong candidate in the next primary who makes a "Medicare For All" DO OVER the primary plank of his or her campaign.

9. Why do people think we have the choice not to "let them"?

Why do people think that a congressional minority (progressives) has power over a congressional majority (Repub + Conservadem)?

The only thing you can do is vote for the conservadem/Republican in your general election (or not vote, vote third party, etc). This is certainly doable. But it would simply result in a SMALLER progressive minority, and a LARGER conservative majority. If that's your idea of change, you might want to rethink posting on the current message board.

Vote to screw yourself or else we'll screw you.

They majority of voters are somewhere center left or center right. If we pushed a far left agenda we would get more conservatives in power than you can shake a stick at.

I am just as wanting a left wing agenda as the next DUer but there is a way to go about it. It can't be made to seem like it is pushed down voters' throats. It has do be done with the support of the majority. That takes time and patience. Like planting seeds. You have to plant them, nourish them and wait for the fruit. Too fast and you have nothing!

you forget the judges Clinton appointed... The civil rights he protected... the FACT that welfare reform HELPED those on welfare... That Clinton saved a million lives in Kosavo... that he brought peace to Northern Ireland... that he protected reproductive rights... that he brought prosperity to the nation and eliminated the deficit spending... that he kept the Country pretty safe... Don't try and rewrite history by ignoring all the good the man did. Plus Clinton was the ONLY Dem to win in 7 presidential terms, which eliminates fantasy candidates who can't enact anything because they can't win the election.

If he was so great, and left his party in such great shape, then his successor should have sailed to victory right? Oh wait he didn't. Wonder why that is.

Because he was, (and Gore following his example then) governed as compassionate Republican and the activist base knew that and stayed home or gave their vote to Nader.
