Married Christian preschool teacher arrested for sex with teenage boy
The suspect is Jenifer Stitzel, who is accused of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old boy in the 8th grade at Central Valley Christian School. Stitzel teaches at a Christian preschool. Jonathan Turley summarizes: "The boy’s parents reportedly found sexually explicit text messages from Stitzel on his phone."

Of all the inappropriate teacher/student sexual relationships I've heard of, this is really bizarre, given that both are involved in parochial education. Way to follow the 10 Commandments!

Edited on Mon Dec-07-09 02:37 PM by seabeyond
what an absurd conclusion.

people want to demand they not live off their religious high road on the one hand then want to use it against them on another.

parochial has nothing to do with this. it is all about wrong

14. Shhh. Let the christian-bashers have their fun.
It's especially fun to do it around Christmastime. Lends an extra punch.

17. I think that the problem people have with situations involving religious people
is that it implies hypocrisy. I think we all engage in hypocrisy at some point, but people are especially angry at how some of the more fundamentalist Christians are trying to dictate people's behaviors based on their religious beliefs. When a Christian engages in this kind of behavior it shows that a pious life on the surface is not enough to keep someone away from doing really messed up things. I agree that it should be just about how an adult violated a child, but when a vocal group is trying to curtail freedoms and dictate social norms, you are going to have reaction when any member of a similar group gets into trouble.

Anti-hypocrisy. Let me rephrase that! Just about anyone would support that.

22. then say they are hypocrites. but to say their behavior more bizarre is absurd and
actually suggesting that their behavior is or should be superior in some way. it is no more bizarre than any other pervert that choses this behavior.

i didn't like the way the comment was. not the suggestion that SOME christians today are living a very hypocritical lifestyle that is conducive to sexual misbehavior or however one would like to say it.

living in fundieville i certainly see, know and speak out against the hypocrisy. was the wording of the comment from op that bothered me.

34. I like to speak directly and call things as I see them....
Perhaps the OP simply did not phrase their shock correctly. Perhaps the OP has a hatred for religion and the religious. I know that some people get so upset and aggravated by the behavior of certain individuals within a broad group that they tend to think that all members of the group, no matter how diverse, possess the same flaws.

I agree with you that the behavior I found bizarre and troubling was the adult finding a 14 year old sexually attractive, so much so as to pursue a relationship with that 14 year old. I agree that where the teacher taught and where the kid went to school should not be the sole focus of the outrage as in the OP, but you have to admit that it does add to the problem.

I grew up Catholic and went to Catholic schools from 2nd grade to High School. I know first hand that we can misbehave just like anybody else. We are expected to behave better than others though. I don't like that pigeon hole, but it is what it is, and religious people tend to put other religious people into that situation by demanding that society follow principles set out by their particular group.

40. ah
the catholic then and the catholic now... two different people

i never did religion. dont believe in religion. i never felt religion better told me how to behave or looked for guidence and parents never made me. but i always always hung out with the catholic. always the most layed back. married a non practicing catholic, lol

i had kids go to christian school up to 4th grade, 2004. after nov elections pulled them out and put them in public school. it was a wonderfully eye opening experience in exactly what was and is happening with this christian in the u.s.

interesting stuff

i dont feel the need to defend christians. i understand why people are angry at christians. i am too

"There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses"

Which makes me wonder how the writer(s) of this passage knew what horse emissions were like. I'm gonna go vomit now.

18. Nomadic tribes. Horses domesticated for transport. Horses domesticated for warfare.
People bred stallions with mares so they could get more horses. Sometimes the stallion missed the mark.

Elementary equine sex ed. Nothing kinky to it. A natural thing if your life revolves around horses.

30. I don't think the article mentioned that she was married
adultery would require that one or both were married.

And the bible isn't exactly opposed to sex with teenagers.
