And, to be fair, it was a concert featuring a number of performers, one of whom has such hate speech in his lyrics, I'm not sure about the others that appeared.
I've done concert promotions in the past (securing talent). It's hard to know (without being tipped off by more knowledgeable people) what all the songs or lyrics are sung by each performer. The advertisers are even further out of the loop. Not excusing it. The promoter should have known and let the advertisers know that one of the booked acts was, to say the least, controversial, giving the advertiser a chance to back away from the event or raise a strong objection to the inclusion of such a person. I doubt that Pepsi is actively promoting "kill the gays" as a company policy.
I often included acts that were recommended by other acts that were first secured to perform.
Anyway, if you are going to slam Pepsi for this, you should probably include Toyota as well.
