Those dealers obviously train their people well. I would hope they'd be happy with the sales person, but at the same point don't pretend it's anything other than how the sales & finance people are trained. The vehicle is only taken into account during the delivery process, was the vehicle clean or not.

You can have a great sales process and still end up with a shitty car. :shrug:

It's listed high on the dealer end, but quality isn't top-notch.

Sales satisfaction is only a small part. Sure I can be super please with X vehicle, but if it's a lemon, no matter how awesome that sales person/finance/delivery was I'd still probably not get another X car.

Toyota will take a big hit for the sudden acceleration issue.

Yes, it's something to be proud of. Sure. But if your product still isn't good, it only gets you so far. A dealer is only as strong as the product it sales. I'm sure Toyota will have a down turn with this recall for sudden acceleration.

it was the correct decision, IMO. Saturn has been losing money since it opened and it was a redundant brand. I liked the Saturn vehicles but it was basically competing with Chevy.

but disagree with you on Saturn. Saturn was a mistake from beginning. It should have never been opened. The idea that you need to start a new brand to compete with half of your competitors is a bad strategy. Additionally, they already had Oldsmobile which was becoming more European styled. They could have simply turned Oldsmobile into what Saturn became instead of spending billions to open Saturn and billions to close Oldsmobile.

Personally, I'm happy with GM's current strategy. I do think they kept the correct brands and discontinued the correct brands.

8. I lost my first American car recently--A Pontiac Grand Prix

LOVED it.

It was a 1998 but still ran like a champ.

Unfortunately, just last week an 82 year old man ran a red light and totaled it. But it still did it's job--airbags deployed and it crunched up to take the force. My husband wasn't even sore.

With the insurance money, we have our eye on a 99 Grand Prix.

I grew up with the "japanese cars are always better than american cars" meme. But after becoming more politically aware of labor, I decided on a Pontiac. And I'm glad I did. Wonderful car. Won't be going back to Toyota.
