I need help with some Tiger WOOds information...back in the '90's
I seem to recall Tiger WOOds declining an invitation to the White House based on moral grounds. I seem to recall Rush having a WOOdy about this incident. But it's one of those things that I lived, so I don't have a link, and am knee deep in tryna set up my new printer (I thought a wireless printer/fax/whatevs would make my life EASIER, but so far, not so much.

For MANY years, Woods actively tried to avoid doing anything that would give the appearance that he took an active role in politics or in any political issues. At the heart of this was the fact that he is and was a marketing machine and didn't want to offend anyone on the other side of the issue. Michael Jordan was criticized for similar behavior. During the mid 1990s, Jordan was asked to lend his star power to help the Democrat (Harvey Gantt) running against Jesse Helms in Jordan's home state of North Carolina. Jordan declined, despite Helms' vile history of race baiting, on the basis that "Republicans buy shoes too."

Interestingly, both Jordan and Woods have loosened up on this policy in respect of President Obama. Jordan have Obama money (as far back as 2004) and Woods spoke at his inauguration.
