The President just announced a zero capital gains on small business investment.
But what about big business?

It's hard to create jobs in this environment. I hope it works.

1. Small business creates jobs. Big business sends jobs to Asia.
Fuck 'em.

2. kentuck, how much more bleeding do we need to do for "big bidness?"
Seems to me we've slit our wrists for it. Time to take care of the little guy. Perhaps if we don't help big bidness so much, it will have to actually decide what kind of role it wants in communities rather than assuming that we will all grovel to it.

3. I agree.
I was being facetious. We need to help small business as much as possible.

4. As long as GE, BOA and Microsoft aren't big business.
Always turns out that way.

5. Do you have any kind of link or reference for that?
I'm trying to get a loan for my small business just to keep going, and the only way to do that is to be able to show tax advantages to a private investor.

11. You only get capital gains when you sell.
As described in the OP, this measure actively encourages people to sell their small business to a larger business by insuring that the seller pays no capital gains taxes on the sale.

This is not a good idea, and it is of little help to a small business owner (until that business is big enough and successful enough to be sold to a mega-corporation).

14. Wait, weren't you upset that we bailed out the credit industry?
I think I recall trying to convince you that without credit, small businesses would grind to a halt. Now you're claiming Obama should be doing more to get small businesses credit. Did I miss a come-to-Jesus moment in my absence?

8. Something like 90% of jobs are created & sustained by small businesses.
Big business just suck up all all the glory and the tax breaks.

13. Small businesses create jobs.
Big businesses either outsource them or transform them into min-wage service jobs.
