FUNNIEST thing I've read in a LONG, LONG time! "A house united by party, untidiness" Chicago Tribune
This article is HILARIOUS! Please go to the link and read the entire thing. There's much more there and you won't be disappointed, I PROMISE! Did you ever want to know how our Congress people live in DC? READ THIS! I just loved it. Our Dems are a fun bunch of people.:7 My husband and I read this in the Trib yesterday and were in TEARS from laughing so hard!:rofl: Cheer yourself up...READ THIS! The Trib had pictures with the article, but they aren't online. One pic had the 4 standing in the kitchen eating carry-out chinese food. The other pic was a picture of beds set up in the living room! These guys are a trip.;)

A house united by party, untidiness

By Mark Leibovich
New York Times News Service
Published January 28, 2007

WASHINGTON -- Some of the most powerful Democrats in America are split over a most incendiary household issue: rodents.

"I once had to pick up a mouse by the tail that Durbin refused to pick up," complained Sen. Charles Schumer of New York, referring to his roommate, Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois.

This characterization is not fair to Durbin, interjected another tenant in the Capitol Hill row house, Rep. Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts. For starters, it overlooks Durbin's gift for killing rats. "He will kill them with his bare hands," Delahunt marveled.

"Oh, will you stop with the rats," said the annoyed fourth roommate, Rep. George Miller of California. He owns the house and is sensitive to any suggestion that he harbors pestilence. It's dicey enough that he harbors politicians.
<snip>

<snip>
Delahunt, a six-term congressman, is the least prominent of the four but perhaps the funniest. More to the point, he is the only one willing to sleep in the living room with a close-up view of Schumer slumbering a few feet away in his boxers.

Miller began taking in weary lawmakers in 1982, but this is the first time in 12 years that four members of a Democratic majority have lived here simultaneously.<snip>

2. I love it! Thanks so much!
It's hilarious just thinking about all these important guys sitting around in their boxers arguing about cereal. The next time they're on C-SPAN I'm going to see them completely differently.

That was a hoot. Seriously, folks, take the time to read it!

:rofl:

3. Great story. Can you see any of the rethuglican Congress critters
"lowering" themselves to such living conditions? Maybe Dennis Hassert but Frist? Foley? McConnell? Specter? Any of the snot nosed, media whore mongers? Anyone?

This story shows these guys are in it for the right reasons. Cunningham and his ilk were all about the bling and their bank accounts.

7. i bet their wives don't even visit because they just don't want to see
how they live..

This is the kind of shit that drives me nuts. I feed my husband his baby aspirin, I take care of him...and the moment I am not around he resorts to his primal habits.

10. I can just hear the conversation...."what's this I hear about killing rats?"
bwhahahahaha

However I don't know the financial status of these guys but I have to commend them for living together and sharing expenses rather than owning a very expensive townhouse that they only sleep in...

11. I agree. They're all saving a ton of money by living together.
I'm sure a decent apartment or house in DC isn't cheap. The house they live in is owned by George Miller which he's owned it since, at least, 1982 and charges $750 rent.

I REALLY like that NO REPUBLICAN has EVER set foot in the house.:rofl: I love George Miller. He's always been one of my favorite Congress critters. Now I have one more reason to love him.:7
