11. It's not just "my threads" that I have seen the trolls attack with their un'recs.
Edited on Thu Dec-10-09 09:46 PM by BeHereNow
I always check out the unrec threads because
they are usually the ones with the uncomfortable truths that
no one wants to acknowledge.
Not my opinion, the uncomfortable truth.

It is delusional to refuse to examine the truth.
Truth is not based in opinion.

Edited on Thu Dec-10-09 09:52 PM by TexasObserver
Read the rules. They're clear, and yet you do this constantly. Everyone who disagrees with you is a troll, according to your approach. There's no disagreeing with your opinion, is there? No, if they unrec something you wouldn't, they must be trolls, right?

Aren't you embarrassed to post such nonsense?

I have watched perfectly decent and thought provoking threads
sink into oblivion because of the unrec feature.

Curiously enough, the thread often has the same posters
disrupting and completely avoiding the TOPIC of the thread.

Are you saying you haven't noticed the pattern?

Do I suspect they are trolls?
Indeed.

Are they eventually banned?
Usually, given time.

I'm hoping that Skinner and company are keeping track
of those who habitually unrec and then disrupt threads.

This thread is a perfect example of what I am referring to.

No, you haven't. You have not seen any thread sink into oblivion because of the unrec feature. That statement alone proves you're delusional. The most active threads here usually have either few recommends or are Unrecommended.

Curiously enough, the thread often has the same posters
disrupting and completely avoiding the TOPIC of the thread.

More abject silliness. You don't like it when people unrec anonymously. You don't like it when they speak up and tell you why they unrec. You don't like anyone disagreeing with your opinion.

Are you saying you haven't noticed the pattern?

The ONLY pattern is the chronic whining by those who think unrec is a bad feature, and they won't shut up complaining about it.

Are they eventually banned?
Usually, given time.

Horse shit. There are not enough bannings to impact the Unrecommend v. Recommend discussion.

possibility.

that it doesn't mean a thing.

I base my conclusions upon the nonsense you posted in this thread, together with my knowledge of things the admins have repeatedly posted the past several months about this topic. In an nutshell, they don't support your supposition. But you won't stop, because in your world it's trolls who unrecommend threads, not people who disagree with you.

if there are two posts where one person posts it first and gets unrec'ed, but a few hours later someone else posts the same thing and gets rec'ed, it's obvious it's about the person and not the article.

Then again, this is DU. Hell, this is an internet discussion forum. I speak my mind and, as an individual, know that I won't fit the populist agenda around here.

But next time, make sure you proofread and edit it before hitting the POST button. Plus, you only have 137 posts, so unless your OP is stellar, you'll naturally get more Unrecs than Recs.

20. Apparently any question about the rec system gets unrec'd even
though it seems many people have issue with it. I know this doesn't belong on the greatest page, but that doesn't mean an unrec is in order. I think unrec isn't serving the purpose it was meant to serve. I think it is silly just as I think threads that aren't worthy of "general" discussion get moved to the lounge. But I don't make the rules.

26. Like I just got caught shopping at Walmart, KMart, and having lunch at Olive Garden.
Like I just peed in the pool and the water around me changed to a bright green.

Like I was in an elevator with one other person, farted, and everyone in the elevator knew who did it.

Like I didn't shake hard enough after going pee, and walked back into the bar with a wet streak down my right pants leg.

Like I just went out on a first date and found out halfway through that I had a big booger hanging from my nostril, and she didn't tell me about it.

Like I just walked in on my boss, my best friend, my younger brother, and my wife in my bed and having fun.

Really though? Who gives a FUCK about having their threads unrecc'd? I don't, and think anyone who does is whining. MOST of my threads get unrecc'd, and I've NEVER whined about it. Skinner instituted it, Skinner said it was here to stay after two weeks of whiny assholes spamming the board about it, and that should be that.

Some one tried to make it about me.
It's not.
It is about DU in general since the unrec feature was added.
Threads with massive unrecs often contain the most TRUTH.

Any one who thinks that is an accident is naive.
