So what's the word on health care?

I've been hearing that the public option is pretty much dead, I hope not but that's what I've been hearing. Instead now we are basically going to lower the medicare age to 55 and call it health care reform. That's great for anyone who is 55 or older but what about those who aren't? What will they do? Buy crappy private insurance? Can anyone fill me in?

No details yet but there will be a premium charged for it which I have heard estimated to be as high as $800 or so.

That's the word that pops into my mind. We are screwed.

The poor will be forced to buy insurance. Never mind where we will get the money.

No public option. That was scrapped voluntarily by the Democrats before the Republicans even said much about it. It was like the Republicans barely opened their mouths to protest the idea of a public option and the Democrats bent over backwards to kill the public option.

Supposedly, they will lower the age for Medicare to 55, but the premiums will be through the roof.

Yeah, we are pretty much screwed.
