South Carolina First Lady files for divorce from gov
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP)— South Carolina's first lady, a former Wall Street vice president who helped launch her husband's political career, announced Friday she is filing for divorce months after his tearful public confession of an affair with an Argentine woman.

"This came after many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation, yet I am still dedicated to keeping the process that lies ahead peaceful for our family," Jenny Sanford said in a statement. A spokesman for her husband, Gov. Mark Sanford, had no immediate comment.

The announcement came after a week of wrenching twists in their relationship. A legislative panel rebuked the governor for his conduct, he told reporters he still wanted to reconcile with his wife, and she said in a television interview that it was a simple decision to not stand with him as he publicly confessed the affair.

"Certainly his actions hurt me, and they caused consequences for me, but they don't in any way take away my own self-esteem," she told ABC's Barbara Walters. "They reflect poorly on him."

No such luck. Not that the next in line is any better.

5. Whatever happened to "Protect Traditional Marriage"
I thought gays shouldn't be allowed to marry to protect traditional marriage? If it is all about that, she should just stick it out.

6. That's about six months later than I'd have thought.
Seriously, what was she thinking ... that he'd change? Divorce him and move on with life. In a year, she'll be in a much better place.

Marriages have survived infidelity. Ask Bill Clinton.

11. She said in a local interview
that she wanted to be able to tell her children that she did everthing she could to reconcile with their father. She was also raised as a devout Catholic, so I'm sure divorce wasn't an easy decision for her.

18. I'm sure it's no coincidence that she waited until after SC lawmakers decided not to impeach him.

14. he was a millionaire himself
but just barely; she was/is a multi-millionaire, mostly family money but she also made a ton on Wall Street. He is facing what could be close to $100,000 in fines from the State Ethics Commission. And since several of his ethics charges involved not reporting free gifts, such as private aircraft flights and such, I'm sure the IRS will want to have a word with him. But, the hypocritical bastard can probably still hit the lecture teabag circuit with Jim DeMint and make whatever he needs.

You know its coming along with a book.

These people have no shame.
