So the guy in front of me is carrying a Glenn Beck book...
...waiting to board a flight to Salt Lake City. This was yesterday afternoon. I've actually come to appreciate this type of truth-in-advertising. It's the equivalent of a hypothetical T-shirt that would read, "Caution: I'm stupid, angry, and dangerous." I mean, if I had a copy of a book by Beck or his ilk because I was doing research or something, I'd keep that hidden like it was hardcore porn.

I didn't think about him again until after the plane landed. I couldn't have described him. ("Crazy, you know, an idiot ... carrying a Glenn Beck book," would have been my answer, if I'd been asked for a description. "How do you know he's a crazy idiot?" might be a follow-up question. "Well you know, he was carrying that Glenn Beck book.")

After the plane landed, as I was walking up the aisle toward the exit, a man shot out of his seat, blocking me while he opened the overhead compartment. It was an obnoxious and obtrusive move, but that in itself didn't bother me. I've become a much happier person since I've learned to ignore petty actions like that.

But once he had the overhead opened, he reached in and grabbed his jacket. It didn't budge on the first try, so in one furious, impulsive move, he ripped that jacket out of the overhead with all the force and speed he could muster. A woman's carry-on bag crashed to the floor, and what a racket it made. Whatever was in her bag sounded fragile, and I wonder if all the contents survived. Her bag was definitely not full of pillows and stuffed animals.

It was impossible not to be irritated with this impulsively juvenile, jackass behavior, and I focused in on him a little more. It was Glenn-Beck-boy. All this ripping and tugging and wrecking of the woman's bag had been done with his right arm alone, because the Glenn Beck book was still gripped by his left paw.

He really epitomized that sort of Beck-Coulter-Malkin-Hannity mentality: Faster, get out of my way, gimmee that right now.

1. I wonder if TSA regulations require a strip search for anyone dumb enough to have a Glenn Beck book.
If not, they should.

2. So typical, isn't it?
You can spot them a mile away. Rudeness and arrogance are just two of the traits most of them seem to have.

What I think is the ultimate in hypocrisy are the people driving around with the sign of the fish stuck to the back of their cars. Or a "I'll follow you, Jesus, to heaven" bumper sticker. They're the ones running red lights, cutting you off, speeding, not using turn signals when they change lanes in front of you, etc.

Something must be protecting these idiots...from themselves!

55. This is a true story.
I was in the right hand lane and there was a car in the right hand turn only lane next to the car ahead of me. This woman in the right hand turn had been in this lane for a couple of blocks and would shoot through the intersection to get ahead of everyone. Well the person in the car ahead of me apparently didn't know what this person had been doing and crashed into this car that had been in the turn lane when it didn't turn and went straight ahead and attempted to cut in front of his car. Well, I was stuck behind them and what I witnessed was beyond the pale. This woman who had caused the accident was swearing at the man telling him he was a "fucking asshole" and every other name she could think of for not letting her cut him off. I thought for a while that she was going to hit him she was in such state.

Well, to make a long story short I took my wife to church, she is a Catholic, I am an agnostic at best, but I think that the priest is a pretty level headed guy and he doesn't try to convert me. Well, low and behold, here was that women who had caused the accident. I could believe my eyes. It got even worse when my wife informed me that she was the head of the CCD classes that teaches religion to the kids.

He drives like you just described. When I asked him why, he said, "I just always have to be first. I have to."

He's a fundie who has chosen to ignore the Biblical passage, "The first shall be last, and the last, first."

I have never seen one on a late model vehicle. It's always a dirty older model (not unlike my own) but, during the Cheney/Bush reign, always wanted to ask them, "So how's it going in Bush world? How ya makin' out?" Or "How about that $4 a gallon, huh?" Or "Wow, those were some WMDs we found in Itaq, huh?"

9. He high-tailed it out of there
then stopped on the jetway to put his jacket on. As I passed him, or tried to, his vigor resumed, and I found myself involuntarily in lockstep beside him. I had to stop walking and let him get in front of me again, in order to avoid the appearance that we were together.

Just an inept, thoughtless, social misfit ... who happens to be a Glenn Beck follower.

5. I actually drive differently behind certain bumper-stickers
RW stickers (particularly on low-end cars, since the have-nots who blame Obama for their troubles are the most psychologically unstable) seem to indicate a higher chance of aggressive, selfish actions, so I give them a little leeway.

It may well be a perceptual error, of course. I notice assholic behavior with RW stickers and carrying Glen Beck books and such because I already think the person is a prick before interacting with them.

About like a drunk driver. I have to pay very close attention to staying in my lane due to having to "represent". It is a pain.

He always turns right on red at the base of our street, despite a sign forbidding it. They're talking to someone in a hallway and they see you coming but don't bother to move an inch to let you pass (the other person not aware you're coming down the hallway)

Or they're on your feet heading up or down stairs or they're anxiously pressing the elevator button multiple times.

59. The FOX people really are getting easier to spot. I think of them as the sort of
people who would have supported Hitler too. It's a joke in our family because even my daughter can pick them out. They are the type of people who cut you out on the road, step out in front of you on a plane, etc. I even have a FOX neighbor who allowed his dog out and it was killed. Well, if that happened to me, I would have blamed myself. Of course, he didn't think he was at fault as he tried to blame everyone here who passes his house even though he knew who hit the dog. He was a complete and total jerk about the whole thing just because he would not accept responsibility. Palin is the same way. She didn't quit her job because she is lazy and irresponsible. No, she quit because she was "unfairly" criticized, and wanted to save the state legal fees. Right, maybe she should sell her fans a nice road to nowhere.
