The military complex got theirs from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The oil people got theirs when gas was $4+ per gallon. The bankers and wall street got theirs through the bail-out and high rates on credit cards. The insurance companies got theirs through no anti-trust laws and over-charging. The auto companies got theirs through the bail-out and the cash for clunkers program.

Just when the fuck does congress intend to give the American citizens a break? Our leaders are eager to give our money to all kinds of special interests because they get their big buck campaign donations to get re-elected and they get to keep their cushy lifestyle.

Now that HCR is on the table, our leaders seem to think we, the people who actually pay for everything, don't deserve the right to affordable medical care, and in some cases, life itself!

Were it up to me, we would not give another dime to any military based company, any insurance company, any oil company, any bank, or any auto maker.

The current House and Senate bills are patched together monstrosity full of favors to the insurance companies, written to appease them, and to ensure that their profits continue to flow in. (I'm sure they have attorneys working full time on the loopholes, even as the Congresscritters and Senators are "too busy" to read the whole bill.)

I knew that we were screwed and that I'd better hang on to my pathetic, useless insurance because it looks as if anything I'd be eligible for in the bill would be even more expensive.

I knew that we were screwed when /single payer/national health service/totally regulated and straitjacketed private insurance/ models, all three of which work in other countries around the world, were taken off the table.

We need to face facts. We are speeding head-long into corporate fascism.

The current state of outright tyranny and taxation without representation is why America had a REVOLUTIONARY WAR in the first place!

Our current fascist corporate tyrannical government no longer even pretends to represent the people!

In terms of what modern life as a working person in America has turned in to, it turns out we are merely corporate serfs or indentured servants with cell phones and blackberries. Our lives are governed by medieval kings with absolute power, just like the old days. Only diff is our 'stuff' is better than what was available in the middle ages. They had to make due with ball in a cup type toys and our toys are state of the art electronics.
