Lieberman is a dirty double crosser (told Reid last week he would support MC buy-in)
Democratic aides, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Lieberman later told Reid he would support a Republican-led filibuster against the bill if it contained the Medicare provision or permitted the government to sell insurance in competition with private companies.

The same aides added that Lieberman had responded differently last week when Reid asked him privately about the proposed Medicare provision. "He voiced support for the idea," said one official. Lieberman's public comments last week were also generally favorable. The aides spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to comment publicly.

1. Really, does he have any need to fear retribution? Of course not.
He can say something one day, totally reverse himself the next, and reverse himself again the day after that, and nothing will happen except for making Democrats look like sorry assclowns. He knows his political career is going to come to an end, and he doesn't give a fuck what his legacy is--no conscience or principles to trouble him.

2. Thom Hartmann just called him sick and twisted. He also called him
a sociopath. Thom is channeling his inner Mike Malloy again.

8. Remember Lieberman stood with Sara Palin, smiling and nodding his head when she called
President Obama a terrorist and while her supporters screamed "kill him".

9. Maybe if we grant him some more concessions on the bill?
Really, this is looking like the worst stereotype of an abusive relationship: "He'll love me and quit beating me if I (fill in the blank with even more subservient and submissive behavior)." Seriously, does Lieberman have photos of Reid engaging in sexual congress with barnyard animals, or what?

Since it's apparent that the Republicans and their lickspittles aren't going to go along with health care reform, and since it's also apparent that whatever form the final bill takes it will be a 100% Democratic creation for good or bad, why don't we just write the bill to approximate single payer as closely as possible? It will reduce costs, provide access to more people, and result in a healthier nation. Win-win-win.

10. Lieberman is all about Lieberman
and the only way to strip this little worm of the power he wants is to end the stupid filibuster rule.

12. Lieberman: Insurance Industry's paid off stooge, every politician can be bought and.....
Edited on Mon Dec-14-09 03:02 PM by LaPera
the insurance companies have paid Lieberman his asking price, (and more).

Lieberman is not fooling anyone, his job for all his millions received is to disrupt the 60 votes, and NEVER allow any real or meaningful reform to health care in our country.

Lieberman, for his paid millions is to make sure the insurance corporations to continue making the huge obscene profits the insurance companies have been receiving (along with the billions of dollars the insurance corporations receive from our tax dollars each year....

But we've known all this and have for a long time....

The real question is why doesn't the Democratic majority in congress simply bypass Lieberman, the republicans and the few sickening, disgusting moderates, 'blue-dog democrats" and vote in a strong public option with a simple 51% majority (as republican have done so many times in the past)?

No real change will occur in health care for all as long as Lieberman holds the 60 vote card.....Olympia Snowe is another completely republican liar, asshole, her job is to have the Dems water down any bill while pretending she "might" go along with a Dem bill but her job is mainly to simply stall the bill....

We know that no republican will ever sign on to a final democratic bill, they see it as cutting their own throat....

So it's either an extremely weak bill that does nothing to put pressure on the insurance companies as Lieberman is making sure of or again, the Dems show some balls and have a strong public option health care bill voted in with Reconciliation, a simple majority of 51 votes.

15. I still think he trying to pull a Tauzin
IF the Dems ever get the balls to boot his ass out of the caucus, I think he is going to resign, take a job with big Insurance,
and let the Republican governor of Connecticut appoint someone who won't even pretend to be on our side.

And it will still be worth it.
