Our family is a wreck. My late husband's brother, age 62, was having breathing and chest pains. Ended up being med-flighted from NH to Beth Israel/Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Quintuple bypass plus an aortic replacement. Bleeding internally, not assimilating fluids, trouble breathing and lungs filling with fluid. He is obviously so medicated that he is totally out of it. The Doc's have said it will be touch and go for quite a while.

The hospital wants no visitors until he is stabilized and that is understandable.
We're all worried sick.

12. I've worked in the cardiac unit there

and they're top notch. His chances are better there than a lot of other places.

He'd have had no chance at all if he hadn't gone in. Drugging him and keeping him totally out of it at this point is the most humane thing they can do while his body tries to repair itself.

Hope for the best. He does have a chance at this point.

This is in the hands of fortune beyond our control. The surgery is extreme and the outcome is unclear. Know that if things go well he will be way better than you can believe. There will be pain and recovery time if he survives, which I will pray for (it's all I can do). My best to you and all his kin and friends.

This wonderful man is one of my late husbands 2 brothers. We have such a small family that even my grandchildren, who hardly know him are worried. They live in the mid-west and see him infrequently.
The old no-news-is-good news is good I guess but it does not alleviate the worry.

Sorry to bother you all with this but there is no-one else here. Please allow me to chat. Helps me feel a little better.
Just heard, more transfusions. Still not out from all the medication. Very guarded.

I'm going to go, have a glass of wine and think positive thoughts.
