If only Ned Lamont hadn't vacationed after winning the primary
... of course, there are many "What Ifs?" But I remember that immediately, post-primary 2006, Lamont had moved into a tie with Lieberman. Then he went on vacation for several weeks, and went into a 10-point deficit for the rest of the race. During which time, Lieberman courted working-class Dems, campaigning on universal health care and pledging to fight for a Democratic president in 2008.

3. Bill Clinton Campaigns For Lieberman
AP) Bill Clinton, campaigning to save an old friend from defeat, appealed to Connecticut Democrats Monday to put aside their opposition to the war in Iraq and send embattled Sen. Joseph Lieberman on his way to a new term in office.

5. Ummm... didn't Lieberman supporters know that a US Senate term is *6* years?
>>>>>Mr. Clinton was greeted with cheers louder than Lieberman received from the audience, and the words "Four More Years" were clearly audible in the crowd.>>>>>>

>>>>>Lieberman wasn't nearly as deferential to Lamont as Mr. Clinton was. "My opponent is peddling what I would call a big lie, and that is I'm not a real Democrat," he said.>>>>>>

Looks now like it was a big lie that it was a "big lie".

4. It was more than just that.
Lieberman was massively popular all along the middle chunk of the political spectrum in CT.

6. Hillary sent Howard Wolfson to be his manager...
Tom Swann was replaced as the lead on the campaign. THAT is when Lamont was told to go on vacation.

Screwed by his own party.

7. He still wouldn't have won
Joey Lies crosses all party lines and the GOP candidate was a joke. Lamont was lazy and arrogant acting like he had it all wrapped up.

The guy to beat Joe is the AG down there.....

8. Lamont was NOT lazy and arrogant. Joe was.
Joe will win because of Republicans, just like he did last time.

Lamont was a good candidate, and he DID win as the Democrat.

I love the way it has been spun that he did not win.

9. He didn't win the one that mattered!
What's there to spin? If he had won he'd be in the Senate........he isn't! The real work needed to be done in the general election and it wasn't.

That's why we as a nation are stuck with this asshole and now the fine wonderful folks of CT are hellbent to toss out Chris Dodd in favor of Linda McMahon or Rob Freaking Simmons while still being in love with Joey Scumbag Lies!

11. Yes, he did win the one that mattered. He won as a Democrat.
That is why Lieberman is acting so arrogant...he is NOT a Democrat, and he knows the GOP will re-elect him..not Dems.

If CT wants that kind of stuff, that is their decision.

13. Lamont could not overcome the fact that ALL the republicans
at least almost all of them, deliberately chose Lieberman.. Knowing that most of the dems LOATHED that little weasel, they preferred to elect him, than to vote for their 4% approval rated republican choice..

This is how republicans operate.. they preferred a guy who was not even from their party, but who was enough of a whore, that he willingly courted, and now serves them.. They got their money's worth..
