Imagine a nationwide STRIKE. Perhaps a national strike is what it will take to shake up DC.

Hell at this point I'd take a nationwide 'Call in Sick Day' as a positive sign but wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

In many European nations, nationwide strikes are quite the norm. Then again, that's Europe.

Solidarity- I wonder if we'll ever experience that word in America ever again.

I'm running out of hope for this country.

7. Fear will keep it from happening. Not enough salaried workers

are unemployed and those with jobs are not going to risk losing those jobs. In a national strike, believe me, there will be scabs.

thats the problem when you use a strike as a political tool rather than an employment tool, you are going to get a lot of people who just are not interested in your cause.... what you will strike for is not the same as i would strike for..

What is solidarity, anyway? People all thinking and acting the same way.

Is that what everyone really wants? Oh, I'm sure everybody wants solidarity on THEIR side. Because, you know...they're the ones who are "right"

Well, the other side think they're "right" too.


What makes this country so dynamic? IMO, it's difference of opinion. Debate. A little bit of conflict.

It's what makes DU itself so interesting. Even as Democrats we can hardly ever get a consensus on much of anything (except that certain Republican personages are not fit to spit on). Otherwise, this place is lively and active, and it's possible to learn a whole lot simply because there is no rigid solidarity.


Anyway, sometimes the best one can do is go for a good compromise, because BOTH sides have good and bad aspects to them. Neither side is completely and totally "right".
