Just throwing this one out here: Sarah Palin will never gain the White House
I've seen this multiple times over the past week -- "you just gave us President Palin", on and on and on and on.

Sarah Palin quits when the going gets tough. Look what happened in Alaska. If she couldn't hack that job, why in God's name do you think she'd successfully make it through a presidential campaign? Look what happened during the last one!

Again: I want to know how some of you honestly believe she has any political traction whatsoever. Seriously.

1. She has the potential to give Obama a second term
That's about as high as she can go.

2. People act like she's the Great Pumpkin
When will those here who are soooooo afraidddddd of Sarah and her BS realize she's a paper tiger? She has NO power. She could not handle being governor of a small state; how the hell does anyone here think she's a credible candidate for the presidency?

The GOP is out of ideas, but we are still acting like they're powerful. Why?

4. Why indeed! I haven't seen such an empty-headed lightweight as Sarah since
Well, since about junior high. Her flame-out is overdue but it'll happen, and if it should by some insane chance happen while she's in the White House, God help us. Gotta keep workin' to make sure that doesn't come to pass.

Blessings.

13. classof56, with all due respect
SHE CAN'T WIN.

Even if she ran tomorrow. Even if she had Mayor Bloomberg's line of credit. Even if all Democratic candidates were struck from ballots all over the country.

Who's voting for her, besides the 30% that would vote for a ham sandwich with an "R" branded on it?

Seriously -- who's voting for her?

3. I agree that the work is too hard & the pay is too low for Palin.
I think she will land a spot on Faux & agitate the base from that forum. It will be easy work, she'll never be challenged or asked a difficult question & the pay is probably better than the presidency.

However, there are a number of other dangerous, batshit crazy, repubs out there.

11. Scaaaary Republicans!
>However, there are a number of other dangerous, batshit crazy, repubs out there.<

Okay. Who's voting for them? Seriously?

We're never going to get that hard-core 30%. It's a given. At the same time, there is NOBODY undamaged enough in the front-runners of the GOP for them to even have a credible candidate this time around. Whom exactly do most of you think they're going to nominate?

Again: We have the White House. We have a majority in both the House and the Senate. I can't figure out why we keep caving, and I REALLY can't figure out why people are so convinced that Palin has any traction whatsoever. Why?

6. She did not quit because she could not hack the job.
She quit because she could not pay the legal bills. I think that most Republicans will vote for her and that means about 30 million votes plus Independents.

16. So, where's she coming up with the money to mount a campaign?
The "profits" from her "book" will be spent with all rapidity. What's left?

Again: This woman had what, six months of a presidential campaign and flamed out as a result? She doesn't have the drive or the commitment to see it through. Never has, never will.

Independents can actually think -- why would they vote for a woman who fights in the media with a 19-year-old, for instance?

But she's dangerous in the nasty, inflammatory invective she throws out, inciting misplaced outrage and possibly violence. I'd just like to muzzle that pit bull/mean girl.

10. "want to know how some of you honestly believe she has any political traction whatsoever"
I'm wondering if the GOP will use her to try to win back some congressional seats next year. Yeah, I don't think she has a chance at the White House, but if she can pop up now and then in the media with her "folksy" ways and sayings, maybe she could sway some voters to vote "R." I predict she will appear more and more in those states and districts with close races as November of next year draws closer.

I don't think the GOP wants her in the White House as much as they want more "Rs" in Congress.

18. It's tough to be "folksy" when you're wearing $650 shoes
She's flaming out on her book tour. She's not going to be able to help anyone. She can't hold it together long enough.

I'm also wondering if those ethics investigations will finally catch up with her before next year as well.

15. The GOP are many things but stupid they are not. They recognize
that the country is in such bad shape (whether they admit it
openly or not) the country will need what is perceived as
a STRONG Leader. Someone who can by his/her very being
assure people he?she? knows what to do. No way does Palin
offer this. Palin is organizing a movement and will be
very influential in the party. This person has not surfaced.
Yes, Personality helps but in times like these, it takes
more than personality.
Palin would have the Obama problem for the GOP.

Obama is growing in the job and who knows he may reach
the point where the country is reassured.

Palin is not going to be GOP candidate. She will be very
influential in the party.

17. I never thought Shit-for-Brains would win in 2004.

I thought his performance in the previous four years spoke volumes, and was enough to win any agrument in his favor. Not to mention the fact that he was of sub-normal intelligence. The election that year proved to me that anyone can be President.

21. The goppers have never run a fair campaign.

And they have never administered an honest election. The Florida Y2K selection is a prime example.
Katherine Harris and James Baker pulled off the biggest crime of our lifetimes.

29. Bush's lead in the popular vote was in excess of three million
No doubt they cheated, but I don't think they could have come up with three million fake votes across the country.

Put aside the question of whether Bush et al. stole the Electoral College. If they stole 2004, that's how they did it. But that's not my point.

It still matters that a majority of the voters, despite his egregious performance in his first term, wanted George Bush to continue being president. To me, that says that there are 62 million people stupid enough to vote for Sarah Palin, regardless of how clearly unqualified she is.

shit-stupid the American electorate is? Granted, I don't think much of Sarah Palin, but I don't think much of the American voter, either, and by my age I've learned never, NEVER assume that anything ridiculous can't happen. Get cocky at your peril. At this point, I'm not sure that we, as a nation and a society, don't deserve her.

24. My prediction for 2012
I believe the most electable Republican on the market right now is Mitt Romney. Admittedly that's not saying much; the guy has the personality of a wet dishrag. However, so far as we know he's faithful to his wife and he has some minimal level of competence, so he gets the nod.

Here's what will happen: Palin and Romney will start the 2012 primary season together. Palin will appeal to two groups: fundamentalists, and guys who pull the lever with their penises. Romney will appeal to Repukes who expect their president to at least be capable of leading the nation. After they get through South Carolina, Palin will quit the race and endorse Romney, thereby making him approved in the eyes of the evangelicals. (The guys who want to vote for Palin because it would be cool to have a MILF in the White House will have to stay home, drink beer and complain about the direction the country's going.)

And she is the name easiest to grab at. President Huckabee, maybe is what they should use.

Or someone with views like Palin who is not a quitter.

27. Huckabee had his Willie Horton moment two weeks ago
If the Democrats don't use it, they're dumber than a box of hair.

There is nobody in the current GOP pantheon of presidential nominee front-runners that hasn't already been damaged or debunked. Palin's fifteen minutes are almost up, too -- wait till the ugly custody fight between Levi Johnston and her daughter, which should yield some tasty morsels in open court.

In other words, those of us who can figure it out can unequivocally say the only reason Republicans win is because Democrats out-RINO them. She is no threat. As long as we give her power, she has it, and so do other Republicans, for that matter.
