Since Democrats want enforced corporate mandates, it's time they privatize Social Security

Social Security is a government-run program. It mandates that you pay into a government run retirement fund.

Therefore it is bad. It is a government run program, therefore it should be abolished. Continue to force people to make payments, but make them buy private accounts with Wall St. investment banks instead.

That seems to be the next logical step for Democrats. It's right in keeping with the paranoia of some of the legislators about any government involvement in any form of healthcare. Force people to buy insurance, but God forbid don't let the government get involved in actually providing any services.

It's time to privatize Social Security -- but keep those mandated payments.

1. There are plenty of people who would like to do just that.

And there are plenty of states that have made 'deals' with the federal government to 'replace' SS payments for state employees with their own privatized pension plans that rely on investment in the oh-so-secure stock market (Nevada is one of those states).

I realize you're being sarcastic (or I hope you are), but we're already on our way down that road. :(

Doesn't surprise me that it's being undermined. These days it would surprise me less tghan it used to if Democrats are part of that.

Remember when Bush tried to privatize Social Security. It failed miserably because a broad spectrum of the population thought it was outrageously stupid.

And yet, here are the Democrats, so afraid of "the government" that they are proposing the same outrageously stupid idea for healthcare.
