I am on your side.
I fought for your victory. On voting day, all three of my children went into the voting booth with me. We all put our hands on the lever and pulled together (I was voting in New York where lever machines were still in use.)
I donated money. I donated time. I listened to your impassioned speeches and felt a surge of hope that had been buried for so long. I followed the debates and heard your cry for Universal health care. I heard your personal story about your mother's final struggle with the insurance companies and how no one should have to go through that. I wept for joy at your victory.
And so, with the Senate Caucus at 60, (5 more than W had when his Congress passed it's most controversial legislation) I have been expecting some real Change. Just as you had promised.
Today I am asking myself...Where are you, Sir? Your leadership is needed and you are no where to be seen in this. Why is your Majority leader caving to the likes of Joe Lieberman? What happened to the promises? What happened, Mr. President?
You are meeting with the Democratic Caucus in just 40 minutes. Please, Sir, please...pull this thing together. Give us what we need. Give us the Change you promised. I want to still be on your team. But your losing me, and so many others. Please, I'm begging you. Save health care reform and put the option back in, before it's too late.
This is your hour, Mr. President. This hour will define your Presidency among those of us who supported you. Can you do it, Sir? Can you?
